Bill and Hillary Clinton's Hamptons Rental Sells

The 10,000-square-foot mansion that served as a summer rental for the former President, features the classic Hamptons shingled style and has sold for $29 million.

The Clintons stayed in the home for part of August in both 2011 and 2012, said Apolonia Baptiste, assistant to seller Elie Hirschfeld ; she declined to say what the Clintons paid. Current listing agent Rebekah Baker of Sotheby’s International Realty in the Hamptons said that in recent years the property has rented for between $350,000 and $500,000 for the summer, or for about $150,000 a month.

Situated directly on Georgica Beach and located close to Lily Pond, the 10,000-square-foot home has eight bedrooms, nine full bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms on 1.02 acres with about 200 feet of direct ocean frontage.

In East Hampton, N.Y., the property is on 1¼ acres with 200 feet of ocean frontage. The roughly 10,000-square-foot shingled house has 8 bedrooms, all of which have en suite bathrooms, a formal dining room and six fireplaces. It is located on a street “with a canopy of elms and with grand homes on each side,” Ms. Baker said.

Built in 1920 by John Custis Lawrence, the home features ocean views from almost every room, two powder rooms, a sun room, a library, a gourmet kitchen, six fireplaces, a heated gunite pool, and a private path to the beach.

Property developer Elie Hirschfeld, son of late real estate developer Abe Hirschfeld, purchased the home in 1996 for $3.2 million and made renovations to the home in 2002. The kitchen was renovated in in 2015.

“The President toured the Hirschfelds through the home and showed the rooms the President used to complete his book ‘Back to Work,’” said Ms. Baptiste.
