Matthew Perry Looks to Unload His $15 Million Malibu Home

The "Friends" star has spent much of quarantine in the California beachfront property, which spans 5,500 square feet and is up for sale for $14.95 million.

The four-bedroom, Southern California oceanfront home that Los Angeles-area developer Scott Gillen rebuilt about a decade ago, hit the market last week with Josh Flagg and Bobby Boyd of Rodeo Realty.

The 51-year-old star of the long-running American sitcom “Friends” rode out much of the pandemic at the two-story home, from which he’s posted numerous images to social media, along with his concerns about the health crisis.

At one point in early May, when much of California was still under strict lockdown, Mr. Perry snapped a photo of a group of beachgoers apparently disregarding social-distancing orders.

"This scene from my patio," Mr. Perry wrote from his glass wraparound balcony. "No masks, one foot apart. This is the thing that makes me want to scream. Until I remember that I have a kick ass Malibu house."

Malibu developer Scott Gillen gave the home a contemporary remodel around a decade ago.

Other posts show him passing the time by the fire pit, baking cookies in the home’s sleek open kitchen and catching vibrant sunsets by the Malibu hideout.

Mr. Perry bought the contemporary rebuild from Mr. Gillen through a trust in 2011, paying $12 million cash, property records show.

Like other Mr. Gillen creations, the loft-like interiors feature a wide-open floor plan that boasts minimal embellishment aside from rows and rows of exposed ceiling beams. The home spans about 5,500 square feet with walls of glass to take in the rolling waves, plus a home theater and outdoor hot tub, according to the listing.

It’s not the only big-ticket home Mr. Perry’s looking to part with. He’s also selling a lavish four-bedroom penthouse at Los Angeles’s exclusive Century condominium. Mansion Global has reported that the actor is looking to spend more time in New York City.
