Oprah Winfrey Says Goodbye to Colonial in Chicago Suburb

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey is saying goodbye to Chicago by putting her last piece of Windy City real estate up for sale.

It’s a four-bedroom Colonial in the Elmwood Park suburb, currently listed for $400,000, according to the Chicago Tribune. Why the wealthy media mogul bought it in the first place is a mystery.

The modest, 2,250-square-foot house, which Ms. Winfrey bought for $298,000 in 2001, includes two baths, a couple of wood-burning fireplaces, a formal dining room, and recessed lighting. Built in 1941, the home is being sold as is, according to the listing.

Listing agent Adela Rus of Century 21 McMullen Real Estate told the Tribune that Winfrey never lived there—no kidding!—and that she’s “selling the property as it’s no longer needed.”
