Matt Lauer Buys Richard Gere's Hamptons Mansion for $36.5 Million

Today host Matt Lauer has been revealed as the mystery buyer of Richard Gere's Hamptons mansion, snapping it up for $36.5 million three years after it first went up for sale.

Lauer has completed his purchase of the sprawling 6.2acre, 12-bed home, after selling off his own Hamptons cottage and another home in Sag Harbor, located just across the bay from his new property in North Haven, according to Page Six.

Gere had been struggling to sell the property, moving through four listing agents in three years and knocking the price from an initial $65 million to $56 million and then $47.5 million, before being re-listed in March this year for $36.5 million with agent Cocoran.
