Tom Ford is Buying Real Estate and Spends $39M on a Fashionable Los Angeles Home

Fashion designer and film director Tom Ford has paid US$38.75 million for the Holmby Hills estate of the late Betsy Bloomingdale. Betsy married into the Bloomingdale family, known for the famous department store. She spent most of her life in Los Angeles, where she hosted friends Nancy Regan, Joan Collins and Joan Rivers.

According to Town & Country and Variety, she and her husband, Arthur, bought the property in the 1950's and worked with celebrity decorator Billy Haines to transform the late 1920's Spanish Colonial into a glamorous Hollywood estate.

Mr. Ford, who just released his second movie “Nocturnal Animals,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams, has just closed on the sale, a source confirmed to Mansion Global. He also scored himself a respectable discount from the reported US$55 million price tag.
