Spanish Villa With Multiple Pools and Private Golf Course Access Lists for $23 Million

The new construction home boasts outdoor space on every level and a 10-car showroom

An ultra-luxury new construction villa in Sotogrande, a high-end private development in Andalucia on Spain’s southern coast, came on the market Tuesday asking $23 million.

The enormous six-bedroom home sits on 2.4 acres and clocks in at more than 23,000 square feet, according to the listing, with dining and entertaining areas on multiple levels and two pools. Dubbed Villa Vela, the property’s name is inspired by its design, said the property’s listing agent, Gideon Lang-Laddie of The Agency.

“‘Vela’ is a ship’s sail in Spanish. The villa, being round and open plan, adapts to the individual as they navigate around the home, in the same way that a sail on a ship adapts to the wind and its environment,” Mr. Lang-Laddie told Mansion Global via email. “Essentially, it is a metaphor for the sail of a ship.”

The property, designed by ARK Architects, is entered through a circular courtyard with palm trees and reflecting pools, according to listing photos. Designed with hosting in mind, the main level comprises a sprawling open living and dining area with floor-to-ceiling retractable windows opening out onto the spacious pool and deck. The dining area flows directly into a sleek open kitchen with a marble island as well as separating bar seating.

In addition to multiple dining areas, the listing notes that the property has been designed with a walk-through pantry, a prep kitchen and “first-class staff facilities, to ensure that all catering needs can be satisfied.” The home includes a spacious glass wine cellar, as well.

“This home is set behind gates within the ultra-private gated community of Sotogrande,” Mr. Lang-Laddie said. “One of the finest properties to have ever come to market in this coveted enclave, the home’s architecture and design are completely breathtaking.”

Sotogrande was originally designed as a luxury private resort community, according to marketing materials, and is divided into eight zones. Villa Vela is located in La Reserva, the most recent and final zone to be developed, per the listing, with construction on the home having been completed in 2020. The sellers could not be identified.

Amenities in La Reserva include an 18-hole golf course, to which Villa Vela has direct private access as well as expansive views. “Set against the horizon, the view is like that of a painting with undulating hills, the green golf course, picturesque villages, and the blue sea and sky just beyond,” Mr. Lang-Laddie said.

In addition to a large infinity pool, the home’s backyard terrace boasts multiple lounge and entertaining areas, including a formal dining area as well as a pool house with a bar and barbecue.

The landscaped grounds and pool deck are overlooked by terraces and outdoor spaces located on each level of the home, listing photos show. A primary suite has its own private terrace and garden, as well as an en-suite bathroom with dual sinks and a soaking tub positioned with sweeping views of the property.

Each additional suite has its own outdoor space, all of which also connect to a sizable upper terrace with its own lawn, garden and dining area, according to the listing.

The lower level of the home is fully equipped with a fitness center, multi-tiered home theater, and a full spa that includes an indoor pool, Turkish bath, hot tub, sauna and showers. A 10-car garage and showroom is attached to the main house, as well, while a separate guest house is located elsewhere on the property’s grounds.
