A 10,180-square-foot megamansion that sits above one of the “most iconic” spots on the California coast listed last week for $56 million.
The gated property is located on more than an acre of land directly above the Pacific Ocean at Point Dume and overlooking Westward Beach, according to the listing with Mauricio Umansky, Farrah Brittany, Sandro Dazzan and Cooper Mount of The Agency. Together, the main home and the guest house offer seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms.
“We were there today and it was the perfect day to see it,” Mr. Dazzan said. “A crisp morning, right after the rain, it was clear as can be. You can hear the waves crashing below you and there are cypress trees to the left that are part of the Point Dume Natural Preserve that give it a Big Sur vibe.”
The contemporary home was designed by well-known Malibu architect Doug Burdge, and is one of his first contemporary builds, Mr. Dazzan said. It’s less than 10 years old.
“It’s a timeless home, with great volume…and indoor-outdoor flow,” he added.
That includes vanishing walls throughout the home, allowing for ocean vistas and easy access to the property’s patios and covered terraces, plus the pool and spa. Wood flooring and cabinetry and stone details help bring the outdoors in, while the kitchen offers a collection of top-of-the-line appliances and views of both the pool and the ocean.
Three of the bedrooms have ocean views, Mr. Dazzan pointed out. The primary bedroom suite features a separate sitting area—that could also be used as a gym or office—plus a dressing room and an en-suite bathroom with a soaking tub next to a window with water views. There are also two decks on the upper level.
Other amenities include a game room, a full bar, a wine cellar and a gym, according to the listing. There’s also a detached guest house and a two-car garage, and the home is surrounded by “impeccable” landscaping, Mr. Dazzan noted.
The home last traded for $21 million in 2012, according to records with PropertyShark. The owner is listed in records as a limited liability company and could not be reached for comment.
